The Classroom

My experience in education is diverse. I have been teaching for almost 20 years. I spent the past twelve years teaching preschoolers that are educationally developmentally delayed (PEDD) in a self contained  environment. I taught a K/2 Autism self-contained class for five years. For two years I worked with preschoolers who had been diagnosed with various exceptionalities who were being served at private centers outside of the school as well as Head Start and the Federal 4 year old program.

My teaching began in Buckingham, VA and during my tenure there, I taught PEDD summer school where I traveled to the students home as well as within the class room setting. I have written curriculum to match kindergarten SOL objectives for Buckingham county as well as conduct a workshop called, "Cookie Math" for parents on how teach simple math skills when baking cookies within the home environment. While in Buckingham, I also co-taught an after school program, that armed parents with skills  to effectively help their children with homework.

From Buckingham, VA, I relocated to the metro Richmond area where I now work for Henrico County. I have conducted workshops on the school level to address the Role of Assistants within the Classroom as well as participate in writing objectives to match the curriculum adopted by the county's PEDD  program.
